Do you always find yourself calling your favorite bill collector to question them about yet another unnecessary charge and pressing just too many additional extensions to get to the right person? Is it frustrating to call the Mr or Misses at work and have to wait for the prompt to enter their extension? If so you are going to need this how-to!
To spare yourself some time (and hair) use the following procedure to save an extension to your iPhone contacts.
- Open the "Phone" app by tapping the "Phone" icon on your iPhone.
Either select a contact from your contact list to edit (just tap on the contact and tap "Edit" or add a new contact by press the "+" symbol on the top right of your iPhone screen).- Add or edit the phone number listed by tapping on the "Mobile" field.
- This will take you to another screen where you can enter or edit a phone number.
Type the full number you wish to dial. (Ex. 1-888-888-8888)- When it's time to enter the extension, press the "+*#" located in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Now enter the character the phone system you are calling accepts. For instance, if the extension is #66 , tap on the "#" sign and type (66) in the keypad.
- If there is a pause in the system before you can get to an option that allows you to enter an extension where you are calling, simply enter the pause by tapping the "Pause" button and this will add a comma (, ) to the phone number.
Now "Save" the phone number and WHAM, you've save a phone number extension into your iPhone contacts list!
Note: You can use this for any number you want. Just tap the drop down and you can select from fax to iPhone, or Pager to Custom Label.
