How-To: Change your BlackBerry Auto-Signature
Let's get started...
Go to your carrier's login page — listed below — and enter your login information. If you haven't created an account yet, you'll be given that option at the login screen.
Once logged in, you'll be able to set up the email addresses you can view from your BlackBerry. Once you set one up, go back to the dashboard screen, where you can click on the options for your email address (it's the leftmost button below):
You can find your dashboard by carrier below:
Alltel: http://www.alltel.blackberry.com/
AT&T: http://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=mycingular
Sprint: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=nextel
Rogers: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=rogers
Telus: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=telus
T-Mobile: https://my.t-mobile.com/Login/Default.aspx
Verizon: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw
Once you click on the options, you'll come to a screen with information on your email address and passwords. That's where your auto signature box will be. Change or delete it, and then hit "Save."
Yep, that's all it is to it. You're done!

Patrick has a blog and it's about time!
[/caption] My good friend and Lead Developer here at SimpleLeap Software, Patrick Chukwura, has just started his own blog! And his first post was....well about his first post, lol! But in Patrick's third post 'Perfect Time for an Apple Video Console?' , he shares what he thinks about the grand Apple video console rumors.
Patrick's blog is about all of the current topics of technology and even a little about his inner workings with SimpleLeap. Very exciting stuff for all of the other 'techies' out there. Maybe now he can even share his programming rants and late night 'programming crazies' with you guys, lol!
So make sure you visit Null Agenda - Patrick's blog! Also, don't forget to read a little background on Patrick Chukwura on his 'About Me' blog page.
Maybe I should start blogging one day too. Hmmmm....

Amazon to open a retail store?
Of course there is a con. With a retail location in your state, you can probably expect to pay taxes (if you are not already doing so) on your purchases. That is something I could deal with, as Amazon prices are usually still cheaper even with taxes added on.
For a mini-store location like the one in question, Amazon could probably stock them with only the most popular products that are probably not too bulky in size. This could also work as place of pickup for any product you order through Amazon where you could save a little bit on shipping costs. Check out the article and patent drawings: http://www.techflash.com/Amazon_patents_design_for_what_looks_like_mini-storefront46087417.html

Microsoft Kumo and their other products
This seems like it may be interesting to see if Microsoft can cut into Google's search market share. At the same time, I am thinking that Microsoft should probably concentrate more on brand new and unique products. It probably won't take much of an effort for Google or even Yahoo to mimic and improve upon what Kumo will offer. With the market share of Internet Explorer slipping (while Firefox and Safari grow), the market share of Windows Mobile slipping (while BlackBerry and iPhone sales grow), the many available popular open source office suites (not to mention Apple's iWork suite) , and the popularity of the Mac platform among college students, Microsoft seems to be under attack on all fronts.
If Microsoft were to tackle an industry in its infancy (or one not yet dominated), I feel they could solidify their name in at least one more sector while making sure their current market share with their existing products holds steady or grows. Although there are a number of people who would love to see Microsoft fall off the face of the earth, a better result would be a reinvented and more agile Microsoft that we would all love to hate.

10 Mac Shortcuts a Newbie Must Know - Part 2 of 2
#5- Show or hide the Dock
- Use: Option-Command-D
This is shortcut perfect when a window is a bit to large, want to take a large screenshot, or just want the dock out of sight temporarily. It's just so smooth and quick!
#4 - Take A Screenshot (technically referred to as "Screen Capture")
- Use ONE OF THESE SHORTCUTS:
-
Shift-Command-3
Capture the screen to a file
Shift-Control-Command-3
Capture the screen to the Clipboard
Shift-Command-4
Capture a selection to a file
Shift-Control-Command-4
Capture a selection to the Clipboard
Boy, was I grateful to learn this trick when I did. I just couldn't figure out for anything how to take a screenshot on my Mac. Luckily, it's simple. The thing is, that there are multiple shortcuts, because there are multiple ways you may want your screenshot to be saved.
#3 - Close a Window
- Use: Command-W
Want to close any window quicker? Simply use "Command-W" and it's done. It is just so much faster than clicking the "X" in the corner.
#2 - Close all Windows
- Use: Option-Command-W
Do you have too many windows open on your Mac? Not a problem, just Use "Option-Command-W" and close them all at once.
#1 - Save
- Use : Command-S
This has to be the number one shortcut for one reason. How helpful would your Mac be if it couldn't save anything. So to save your work in an active window in an application simply press Command-S and your work is saved.
That's it guys! More shortcuts in the future, but for now...Chao!

Top 10 iPhone Questions Answered - Part 1 of 2
You have the iPhone and you love it (or hate, that happens too). You just have a few questions here and there and need answers. Well... I have been lurking through forums and groups and even went through some of my replies to our users emails and have come up with a few of the most common questions regarding the iPhone.
#10 - How do you delete something when there is no delete button?
This is my favorite question for two reasons: because it's asked often and it's super simple.
Simply go the list item you are trying to delete (a list item within an app, your email, etc.) and swipe from left to right. A pulsing, red "Delete" button should appear. Tap and your item is deleted.
#9 - I can't close the original window in Safari, does this mean that it is constantly running?
No. This is how it works and since it's not updating a new page in the background constantly it is not running nor draining your battery.
#8 - How do I save images from web pages on my iPhone?
When you find an image that you want to save, simply tap and hold the image. A prompt will pop-up asking if you would like to save the image. This MAY not be the same on iPhone 3.0 ;)
#7 - iTunes is erasing my applications when I sync, what can I do?
- Make sure you are logged into iTunes on your computer before connecting.
- DO NOT "Auto Sync".
- Connect and choose "Transfer purchased content" from the file menu.
#6 - Why can't I get my email on my iPhone without opening the actual Mail app?
Because you haven't changed your settings to do so silly! Simply:
- Tap on "Settings" from your iPhone home screen
- Tap on "Mail, Contacts, Calendar"
- Tap "Fetch New Data"
- Change from Manually, to your preferred setting.
That's it for now grasshoppers! Until Friday for now.

10 Mac Shortcuts a Newbie Must Know - Part 1 of 2
You went down to the Apple Store, browsed around, and ended up coming home with a brand new shiny, great running Mac.
You've played with iPhoto for about an hour take all of the silly photos you could, you've changed your Mac background color about 20 times and now it's time to get to business. Let's learn how to get you going on the Mac with speed, using shortcuts.

There are so many shortcuts and so little time to go through them all (not really but we will assume this for post sake, lol). So let's go through a list that will be easy for to remember and are essential to have your whizing through your Mac days.
Key:
(Command key)
(Option key)
#10 - Copy or Duplicate to clipboard
- Use: Command-C
If you've used a Windows PC before and have used this shortcut, this should be very familiar. Want to copy some text, image, anything to the clipboard, just select your content you wish to copy and press Command-C .
#9 - Paste the contents of the clipboard
- Use : Command-V
There's no Copy without paste, and Command-V (again very similar to Windows) allows you to paste the contents you have copied.
#8 - Show or hide the Dock
- Use: Option-Command-D
This is shortcut perfect when you have a enlarge a window a bit to large, want to take a large screenshot, or just want the dock out of sight temporarily.
#7 - Undo
- Use: Command-Z
So you didn't mean to type that sentence, you didn't want to move that box, or paste that particular content. No worries, it's not permanent, just undo this with Command-Z.
#6 - Redo
- Use: Shift-Command-Z
Wait a minute, you did mean to paste that item or type that sentence, now make your mind, just kidding. All it takes is a simple redo with Shift-Command-Z.
Ok, enough for today, the shortcuts will continue Thursday.

Palm Pre-Should RIM or Apple worry?
Since the iPhone's arrival many devices have tried (and failed) to challenge the iPhone's mass consumer appeal, hype, and sleek aesthetics, but the Palm Pre appears to have a better chance at making its presence known. The user interface powered by the new Palm webOS as well as the clean and simple styling of the device may have captured the attention of many who would consider or own an iPhone, but the sheer strength of Apple and its AppStore (not to mention the huge subscriber base of AT&T) probably won't slow the iPhone train anytime soon.
[caption id="attachment_53" align="aligncenter" width="384" caption="Palm Pre"]
[/caption]
On the other side of the battle is RIM and their powerful BlackBerry brand. Although RIM has made pushes into the general consumer space with devices like the Storm and the launch of the AppWorld marketplace, their bread and butter still lies in the hands of business consumers, a sector the iPhone has not penetrated as easily. This however is an area where Palm has a strong history, and where RIM has grown at Palm's expense.
The difference this time around is that consumers (thanks to the iPhone) are demanding a better user experience from the first time the phone is booted up, to the animations of message alerts. And from early demonstrations the Pre appears to handle this rather well, while the user interface on BlackBerry devices is beginning to show its age. This could be an area of concern for RIM since Palm has less convincing to do in the business world than the iPhone. If priced right, executed successfully, and an introduction to an additional carrier besides Sprint is achieved, the BlackBerry lineup may be caught flat-footed against the Pre with no apparent plans of a UI overhaul anytime soon.
In RIM's favor, they are not sitting idle in the UI department, but with a new iPhone guaranteed to hit shelves soon, and the Palm Pre a few weeks away it's hard not to believe they'll be playing catch up.

How-To: Delete Applications from your BlackBerry
- From your home screen, click on the "Options" button.
- From the list select "Advanced Options".
- From this list select, "Applications".
- Note: Wait for your list to load (it may take a moment based on the the quantity and how large your apps are on your BlackBerry). At this point I also advise using your BlackBerry Desktop Manager to back-up any of your data, including the app you may deleting .
- When you application list finally loads, browse the list and select which application you would like to delete.
- When you find the application you would like to delete, hover and from the BlackBerry menu, select "Delete".
- Confirm that you would like to delete the application by selecting "Delete".
- Once you confirm, again, it may take a few seconds to delete ( you will see the loading indicator while this is going).
- Once the BlackBerry is done deleting the app, it will prompt you to "Restart Now". Only do this if you plan on not deleting any more apps this session, as the process becomes very slow to delete and restart after the deletion of each application.
Your are officially done deleting your first BlackBerry application after the restart. Congrats, now go and install more, lol!
FYI...for the iPhone Users, I have already written a post about deleting apps from your iPhone if you need it ... How-To: Delete iPhone Apps .

Perfect time for an Apple video game console?
A goldmine is resting in the living rooms of consumers around the world for Apple. An AppleTV like device that not only gives you access to music, movies and streaming video via the iTunes store but also a game-focused AppStore where consumers can purchase, download and play games right on their sofa could be the must have device(if priced right) for any kid, teen, tween, or adult out there.
This could also open the doors for developers to reach an even wider audience who haven't yet jumped on the smartphone bandwagon, but enjoy playing games from time to time, as well as the hardcore gamers who live and die by their Xbox, Wii, or PS3 game consoles.
From a business standpoint, Apple would have the opportunity to not only compete with Microsoft on another front(against their Xbox), but also with Amazon and Netflix with their streaming services...all from one device. With big names like EA and Sega already developing iPhone games, support from game developers already exists on the Mac platform possibly even attracting more big name developers.
With the economy stabalizing, the current game console generation going flat in about a year or so, and the hype behind everything iPhone, I really think Apple has a golden opportunity to make a giant footprint in yet another industry.
I'm not the type to wait in line for a product, but something like this may have me camped out at a Best Buy. :)

How-To: Transfer Music from an iPod to Another Computer
So I received a question via private message on FaceBook regarding transferring music from an iPod to another computer and thought it would be a great opportunity to answer this question on the blog, since I assume other people may have the same question. So let's get to it...
The Question:
How can I transfer my music from my iPod to another computer? For some reason or another, my laptop crashed. I'm trying get my music onto my desktop...Do you know how?
The Answer:
Luckily, this is not an issue and is simple to do! Plus, this is exactly what your iPod was made for (besides playing music). There are various solutions, but I have detailed the FREE solutions. Because quite frankly everyone likes free, right? Anywho...
Manual Transfer: (FREE and not dependant on third-party software)
What you will need:
- iTunes 7.0+
- iPod/iPod Touch (apparently)
- A computer that can run iTunes 7.0+
- Sync/Charge cord (white cord that charges your iPhone or iPod)
Instructions:
- Make sure to install iTunes 7.0+ on the computer you wish to transfer your music.
- Open iTunes on your computer and if this is your first time opening iTunes on this computer, make sure to run through the "iTunes Setup Assistant" first.
- Connect your iPod or iPod Touch to your computer.
- Note: If you already have music installed on this computer, MAKE SURE you perform a backup, BUT DO NOT allow iTunes to "Auto-Sync" or "Associate this computer with your iPod ". This will delete the music you have already in iTunes which you should consider your hard copy.
- Now it's time to actually copy the files:
On a PC:
- If your iPod was automatically detected, click on "iPod" (will appear in your "My Computer" folder).
- You should now see a folder within your iPod.
- Drag this folder over to your "My Music" folder on your PC hard drive. This will take a while as it is transferring your music to your desktop.
- Note: If your PC does not detect or show the folder, unhide the files.
- To unhide the files go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View, and then check (enable) the option "Show hidden files and folders."
On a Mac:
- Click on "iPod" (will appear on your desktop once your iPod is connected).
- You should now see a folder within your iPod.
- Drag the iTunes folder from the iPod to the "Music" folder.
Note: The above "Mac" directions are for those who have older versions of iTunes and/or iPod. Currently with our iPhone, we simply connected the iPhone with the sync cord and the Mac detected it. Once the iPhone was detected it showed a list of songs and all you have to do is check which songs you would like to transfer. So apparently iPhone/iPod transfer to Mac is much easier!
Now just open iTunes and BAM it's there!
Also note, that this technique works to transfer your movies and video as well.
Secondary Method: Automated Rip (FREE and Paid , dependent on third-party app. Best for iPhone to PC transfer. EASIEST METHOD!)
This method will automated the entire thing for you. Simply download a third-party app and let them do the dirty work for you.
Ok guys that's all I have, until next time! If you have any questions or suggestions for another blog post, simply enter it in the comments below.

10 Neat BlackBerry Email Tricks - Part 3 of 3
Now on to the remaining three tips:
#3 - Reply and Forward your emails quicker
Again, don't use your BlackBerry menu, use a shortcut. Just hover over the email you wish to reply to or forward and press "R" and "F" respectively.
#2 - Want to keep your messages on your BlackBerry longer or shorter than 30 days? Modify your options.
That's right, you can change this and so many people just didn't notice the option. All you have to do is:
- From your BlackBerry menu, select "Options"
- Select "General Options"
- Scroll until you see "Keep Messages"
- Select the days you want to keep your messages.
- Press the back button.
- Select "S" or "Save" to keep the changes made.
#1 - Delete multiple email messages at once.
Yes, I saved this for last, because this is honestly my favorite tip of all. When I started using my BlackBerry, I just wish I would have known this tip.
Instead of deleting your BlackBerry email messages one by one, you can simply open your BlackBerry email composer and from the message list hold the caplocks button (has arrow and aA) and scroll with the trackball all the way down the list to delete whichever emails you want.
Now, beware...this will delete all of the emails that are in a row, you can not skip down the list with this trick.
That's it guys, that's all I have. Well not really but more will come soon. If you guys have any cool email tricks, leave them in the comments and I will post them.

Quick-Tip: How to Change your iPhone Email Signature
Your "Sent from my iPhone" email signature not saying enough to your contacts? Change it!
Use your signature change as the perfect opportunity to remind your contact about your company, remind them where you are, make them aware of your Twitter account, etc. Anything you would like to add in your signature (within characters or less, ) you can add in your iPhone signature.
So how do you do it, get on with it already? Ok, ok!
- From your iPhone or iPod Home screen, tap "Settings"
Scroll down and tap on "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
Scroll down again until you find "Signature" and tap on it to change your signature.
The iPhone keyboard will pop-up and will be pre-filled with the words "Sent from my iPhone". You can change this signature to whatever you would like.
Once you have changed the signature, simply press the "Mail" arrow at the top of screen pointed backwards and your signature will be instantly saved.
That's it! To check your work (like all of your Math teachers so often reminded you to do) simply draft an email from the phone and it should appear at the bottom of your email. If you don't like how it appears, repeat the steps and format as you would like it to display.
That's all for now, chao!

10 Neat BlackBerry Email Tricks - Part 2 of 3
Now on to part two:
#6 - When drafting an email, the space bar is your friend
Don't you hate the redundant task of entering an the "@" symbol and the "." when entering an email address.
Well, don't do it, just use spacebar. That's right, anytime you are entering an email, enter "email (spacebar) serviceprovider (spacebar) com " and it will return email@serviceprovider.com . It's that simple!
#5 - Speaking of entering emails...
Do you often email the same contact. Make sure to save that email address in your address book. This will allow for quick email address entry when you email that contact next time.
All you have to do is hover over your contact's email address within the email, and from the BlackBerry menu select " Add to Address Book". Once they are added in your address book, you will be able to type the first letter or two of their email address and it will automatically pull up when you compose an email next time.
#4 - Scanning your emails has never been this quick.
Besides using the previously mentioned "B" and "T" shortcuts to scan your emails, press the "Space bar" to move down one screen and the "Shift + Space bar" to move up one screen.
Well that's all I have for now, until Friday for part 3 my BlackBerry friends. Chao!

Quick-Tip: Quicker Caplocking on the iPhone and iPod
When I first got the iPhone I was amazed at it's simplicity. "Wow" I thought. "Almost everything works as it should" . Well, even though that is not so much the case anymore, the caplock feature falls into this category and I didn't realize it until later.
As soon as I discovered that I didn't have to press the caplocks button each and everytime I wanted a letter caplocked, I quite frankly felt, well....silly ;) and even a little upset that I didn't realize this earlier, lol. How much time could I have saved if I would have simply used one of the two easy caplocking methods that exsist.
So to spare anyone else the "sillset" moment (a horrible attempt at merging the word silly and upset ) , I give you the two simple caplocking methods.
For a Quick Fix:
- Simply hold down shift (the "UP" arrow on the left of the keyboard) as you type. Even though I found this a little difficult to do as I typed anything near the shift button.
Which is why I prefer the next method...
Change your settings:
- From your iPhone Home screen, tap "Settings".
Scroll down and tap on "General"
Scroll down on this screen and tap on "Keyboard"
Tap on "Enable Cap Lock"- Press the "Home" button (the large button at the bottom on your iPhone) to return to your home.
Now test out your caplocks settings by double tapping the caplocks button and typing multiple letters.
See, I told you it would work!

10 Neat BlackBerry Email Tricks - Part 1 of 3

The BlackBerry is most notably known for it's exquisite handling of emails, and in my opinion it has earned it. There are so many little things you might not have known about that may help you send off your emails faster or simply may help you organize your email system better, so I have decided to post a few BlackBerry email tricks and tips in a three part series.
Let's begin...
#10 - Compose an email with one button
There are so many things that you don't want to use your BlackBerry menu for and composing an email is one of them.
It so much quicker to simply press "C" from your message list and start drafting your email auto-magically!
# 9 - Move to and from the next day in one touch
To read your emails by the day, don't scroll in one long list of emails, view them by day.
From your message list simply press the letter "N " to move forward one day and "P" to view the previous day messages and viewing your emails by the day will become a snap.
# 8 - Move back and forth between emails
This is my favorite shortcut because after I learned it, it shaved so much time off of the daunting tasks of checking my emails.
While reading an email message simply press "P" to read the previous email or "N" to read the next email. It's so much better than closing the email and returning to the list to simply move to the next email.
Note: This tip is different from #9. Moving day to day is from your message list and moving to and from the next email is while your are reading an email.
# 7 - Instantly move to the top or bottom of your list of emails
Yes, the BlackBerry trackball is quick...but when reading a long email, it's simply not effective. Try this out for change:
Press "T" to instantly move to the top of an email or "B" to move to the bottom of an email.
That's it for now. Part 2...Coming Wednesday!

How-To: Setup your BlackBerry Wi-Fi
Setting up BlackBerry Wi-Fi is absolutely essential when you don't have a data plan for your BlackBerry. Wi-Fi is also helpful when for some reason your data plan is not available in a particular area, so instead of needing your BlackBerry data connection you can use you UMA wireless connection to make calls, browse the Internet, and to send and receive emails.
- Make sure you have a BlackBerry device that is capable of receiving a wireless connection.
- From your BlackBerry home screen, click on your Wi-Fi shortcut icon.
- From the Wi-Fi intro screen, click next.
- Select

Quick-Tip: Rearrange your iPhone Icons
Of course the iPhone is just extremely simple to use, so this is just another thing that takes very little time to understand. Follow the wonderfully short steps below (which are almost identical to the directions for deleting iPhone apps) and you will be well on your way to an organized iPhone/iPod home screen.
From your iPhone home screen, press down on any icon until you see the icons start to shake.- Once you see the icons shaking, drag the icon you would like to move in the place you want it to be. Make sure if you want to move an icon to another screen, to drag it "off the screen", it will then move to the next page.
- You can move as many icons around as you would like when your iPhone or iPod is in this state.
- Once you have moved all of the icons to their place, simply click on the iPhone/iPod "Home" button (the big round button at the bottom of the phone) and the icons will stop shaking.
That's it, you've done it. You have helped your iPhone help you. You've organized the tool that keeps you organized (ok, I'm done).
Btw...a little tip:
Try to group applications and shortcuts with similar functions on the same pages, for instance, group all of your business iPhone apps on the same page, the apps that help you study in school on the same page, your personal apps on the same page, etc.
Chao for now!
