SimpleLeap Releases BlackBerry Call Reminder Utility, TalkLater

Atlanta, Georgia - January 17, 2009 - SimpleLeap Software, LLC , the creators of popular BlackBerry software titles Appetite and Cram, today announced the release of their new call reminder tool TalkLater for BlackBerry smartphones. TalkLater is a software that allows users to set call back reminders on their BlackBerry. TalkLater has the functionality to alert the user with a pop-up, ringtone, and phone vibration. With TalkLater once the user is alerted, users can choose to make their phone call, dismiss the TalkLater reminder, or reset the reminder for another time.

TalkLater is a tool that feels like a standard device feature.” says Ashli Norton, Co-Founder of SimpleLeap Software, “TalkLater integrates seamlessly into the BlackBerry phone tool and alerts the user based on their settings.” With Talk Later the user can create an alert in seconds, add notes to the call reminder, and return a call on time to any stored contact on the device.

TalkLater handles leap years, time zones, and daylight savings time effortlessly and gives the user the power to contact anyone within their call log or stored contacts. “TalkLater is sophisticated, yet simple enough to keep a detailed log of all your TalkLater alerts and display the alerts within your BlackBerry calendar.” says Patrick Chukwura, CEO/Co-Founder of SimpleLeap Software, “TalkLater is for those that have ever forgotten to return an important business call, to make a call to a best friend on their birthday, or call your mother about her important vacation stories.

How To: Download BlackBerry Apps

To download most third-party applications for use on BlackBerry devices, there are two standard methods for downloading. We have included directions for each method, as we hope this helps in downloading your future BlackBerry applications.

Download Directly to Phone:

The “Download to Phone” is also referred to as an OTA (Over the Air) download. Alot of software companies use this terminology when providing access to their applications for download directly to your device.

The OTA’s allow you to directly download applications from a particular website, in the case of downloading SimpleLeap applications our website ( www.simpleleap.com ), directly from your BlackBerry browser. This is usually the easiest and quickest way to perform an installation, because it does not require the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software. If you try to click on this download from a regular desktop browser, it will not work, it will most time only display a scrambled set of numbers or information about the download.

To Perform the Download to Phone:

1. Visit the provided link for the particular OTA software download.

For Example: To download Appetite for BlackBerry : http://simpleleap.com/downloadOta.htm?app=appetite from your BlackBerry browser.

2. Once you have done this, it will prompt you to begin your download and will ask you if will allow the software certain permissions, say yes (if you would like to).

3. It will begin to download and ask you to reboot your phone to finalize installation.

Desktop Download:

This method requires the use of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager (this came as a CD with your device or you can download here http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/ ) to your desktop. This will allow you from your desktop browser to click on the “Download to Desktop” and unzip the file to connect your BlackBerry and add the file that way. This method will not work through your BlackBerry browser (on your phone).

  1. Download the Desktop Files for the BlackBerry application you wish to download.
  2. Unzip the files.
  3. Launch the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  4. Connect your BlackBerry with the USB that was supplied with your device to your desktop.
  5. Within the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, click on “Add/Update Applications“.
  6. Select “Add Applications” which should be located on your left.
  7. You will now see a list of applications that are installed on your phone, click on the “Browse” button.
  8. Navigate to the directory where you unzipped the downloaded zip file (for this example we will use Appetite).
  9. Select “Appetite.alx” or any other case an “.alx” file.
  10. Press “Next“.
  11. Press “Finish” and it will install.
